It’s our responsibility

…but we couldn’t do it without them.
We work closely with our manufacturers to create our fabrics in accordance with leading standards for environmental and social responsibility. Thus, our responsibility does not begin and end with our choice of fibers and compositions, but also relates to the choice of how and where our fabrics are made with every step from fiber to fabric accounted for.

We only work with trusted and reputable manufacturers, and we only engage with partners who shares a common vision towards responsible textile production by continously engaging in and improving the environmental and social awareness in their field of operation.

Our manufacturers adhere to a number of leading international standards and certifications covering everything from fiber production, waste water treatment and energy efficiency to labor rights, from ISO standards and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® .

We always meet potential manufactures, to see if our values and mission align, and we only want to work with manufacturers that provide safe and respectable working conditions for their employees.

We acknowledge our responsibility to do our due diligence and to ensure compliance with our values and beliefs in our supply chain.

Cheap is costly, quality is fair

Our fabrics aren’t cheap. Neither in price nor in quality.

To pay the price that allows us to work with the best fibers in the right ways, also means transferring lesser costs to our environment and the lives of the people involved in our production cycle.

This is an important note to take.

We don’t make fabric to sell at a certain price just for the fun and profit of it. We do it to cover the actual costs of making things in accordance with our values.

Every time you buy something, you cast a vote. A vote for the brand and the values and mission of that specific brand.
You show your hopes for the future, and that you care to make a change and take a step towards more conscious consumption.

This is no different for fabric than it is for any other product.

How we take action

There’s a lot to be said, and even more to be done.

Here’s some of the criteria that are always on our list, when designing collections and engaging with manufacturers:

  • In every step of production we make what we consider to be the best choice. Not the easy choice. Not the fast choice. Not the cheap choice. Always the choice that will result in the best fabric in the best way.

  • For our main fiber contents we only work with fibers that are documented to have less (negative) environmental impact in their production cycle compared to conventional uncertified fibers.

  • We prefer to work with natural fibers or plant based cellulose fibers.
Though we design fabrics with the use of them on top of mind, rather than the ‘after use’, we do take into consideration how our fabrics will be able to be reused and recycled when they have served their time.
The most important thing for us in this matter is to keep our use of synthetic and artificial fibers such as polyester, polyamide, acrylic, nylon etc. to an absolute minimum, and only use them when we believe it serves the best for the purpose of the specific fabric.

  • We don’t produce more fabric than what is needed to serve our customers.

  • We only work with suppliers in countries with reasonable environmental and social laws

  • We only work with suppliers who treat their employées with respect

  • We choose manufacturers and suppliers as close to us as possible to minimize the environmental impact of transport and to ensure a close collaboration
